The Sound of Freedom

Do you like music? Anna does too! Anna is the main character in the book "The Sound of Freedom." "The Sound of Freedom"is about a girl who lives in Poland during world war 2. Her name is Anna. Anna's family is Jewish. They know their city will be attacked by Germans  next. One day after school Anna hears a speech by Adolf Hitler and she knows it won't be long till he comes. One day in the news paper a letter came from a man named Bronislaw Huberman saying that he wanted to form a Jewish Orchestra in Palsestine she tries to save her family by going but will it save them?

I loved this book. I love how it is about music. I hope you read this book it's a real page turner.

Why I Read Comics

I read comics the way I do  because ever since I was small I have liked deatils. First, I skim through the pictures in the book to see if it is interesting. Then, if I like the book I start reading it. I can only do this with comic books not with picture books.  I get different  deatils from different books like in MY little pony, I see visual deatils around in a room. In DC super hero girls on the back of the book I see different  people that in different parts of the book have different faces.I also like that they are funny. One of the funny books I read is named the Peanuts.  Snoopy, is very funny because he thinks he is flying in the air, but he is really on the ground. He also thinks he is in the air force.  This would be very hard  to explain in a book. This is why I read comic books the way I do.

The Magic Misfits

Are you a person that knows magic tricks?  If you are, then you might want to read this book.  This book is filled with magic tricks that sure will blow some people away.

In the book, The Magic Misfits, four kids also know magic tricks.  Carter, Theo, Leila, and Ridley are all like magicians. Leila, is the great, escape artist extraordinaire.  Ridley, has a  notebook that she puts her great ideas in.  Theo, plays the violin and makes things lift when he plays it.  And Carter... wants a loving family and is good at magic tricks. This story is about four friends who get their things stolen from a guy who owns the circus.

After all, all villains want is money and power.

S0,will the friends solve this crime?  If you want to find out if they do solve this crime, get this book at the library and start reading it NOW.

Glister

Has your house ever had a tree grow in it? That's what happened to Glister Butterworth in this book.

This is a graphic novel about Glister Butterworth and the unusual things that happen to her. First a haunted teapot arrives at her house.  Second, her house floats off to many different places.  Lastly (and the funniest one), a tree that grows Butterworths.

I enjoyed the book because her unusual adventures would not happen to a human in real life.  She also meets odd and unusual characters.  Some would not appear in human life such as fairies, a troll, and bunnies that eat everything (the bunny ears look like celery sticks!).

Also there are some activities you can do.  Lots of games and one recipe for cookies (or as she calls them, biscuits).

So, maybe, unusual things will happen to you too if you read this book!

14 Hollow Road

Hi!
Do you have a fear of tornadoes?  Imagine your house not standing up and everything is scattered all around your yard.  You can almost salvage nothing from it. Well that is what happens to Maddie in this book, 14 Hollow Road.

Before the sixth grade dance Maddie had to feed her dog Hank, but... he didn't come when she called.  She felt like it was all her fault that Hank did not come when called.

At the dance Maddie found out a tornado went right over her house!  It was completely destroyed and not standing at all. Also, she  has to live with a neighbor and in a room next to a boy she likes! She felt nervous. 

Later, in the summer she thinks she will lose her friend, Kristin.  Kristin spends more time with a new girl, Gabriella.

This book made me feel sad that everything she had was destroyed. It is hard for me imagine all of my books, clothes, and stuffed animals, and warm bed gone. As for Maddie's friendship, I understand her feelings but I know that you can have more than one friend.

If you want to find out if Hank comes back or it their house gets rebuilt, read this book 14 Hollow Road by Jenn Bishop.  I'd love to hear what you think of this book.

In this blog you will see pictures of  my cats with books I will talk about and recommend  to you!You are welcome to look at my favorite books and pictures of my cats Penny and Lavender.The books you will see will be mostly graphic novels and chapter books.Some of the books I recommend to you I read in the bathroom with.I also...read by the furnace, while I brush my teeth,and read at breakfast,lunch,and dinner.  My parents say parents have to make their kids read but for us they have to take books away!
